Advent Animals

Went specially up to the main church this morning to photograph the Advent service - very picturesque, with all the purple vestments and the advent candles, but then saw these sheep while walking, with our visitors, back to the flat from the land, and loved them against the dying light.

And thought, we associate Christmas with Mary's donkey, and the wise men's camels, but the only animals actually mentioned in Scripture (apart from the turtle doves offered for Mary) are the sheep:

That night some shepherds were in the fields outside the village, guarding their flocks of sheep.   Luke 2:8
