I'm Messy
Chris left for Cannes really early this morning. We all hate it when he goes away but the children have started to really dread it. Both were in tears last night and I had to give them a talking to.
Went for a run this morning, intending to do 7 miles. The rain was absolutely biblical and I was soaked to my underwear within 15 minutes. I've done a lot of running recently in both Marble Hill and Bushey Parks, and along the towpath and fancied going somewhere else, so I decided to run along the roads. Big mistake, as Julia Roberts said, Huge. When you run in a place you know, you always have a sense of how far you've gone. But today I ran and ran through roads I have never been down before, I discovered a small park I never heard of, a rugby club I didn't know existed, and ran round them both, only to realise to my utter dismay, I wasn't even 3 miles from home, not even half way. I was totally drenched, and my leg muscles were stone cold because my trousers were soaked with freezing rain. I ran for more than an hour and the rain never let up for a moment.
Eventually, I just had to give up, after just short of 5.5 miles. My shoes were full of water, and there was not a centimetre of me that wasn't wet and cold.
I am supposed to run 8.2 on Sunday. If I can't run 7 tommorrow, I can't expect to do that. But to run 7 the day after I've run 5.5 is a stretch for someone like me. In any event, today's run was so utterly horrible that I've decided if it's raining on Sunday I'm going to stay in bed anyway.
Compensated for the morning by spending the evening on the sofa with the children, watching Modern Family and crocheting - perfet for an Autumn evening.
