Still life...

...sweet chesnut or Castanea sativa.
A bit different from the horse chestnut as you can eat the seeds, or nuts. I remember my dad roasting them on an old coal shovel on the open fire, and we would dip them in salt - a great treat.
Roman soldiers used to have chesnut porridge before going into battle...

Had a nice day at work. Saw a few of my favourite people. Nice supper with my lovely Mum.
