Llangors

"The soul needs to look out at things and find rest and peace and beauty in the things that the eyes are seeing. I think that’s a need. it’s a need as much as having a roof over your head and food in your stomach".
Anna Pavord

And so I headed out with P and A in search of some soul food, to Llangorse for a wander around the lakeside - although at times it felt more like through the lake; we were advised wellies were recommended (waders optional).  In addition to the varied birdlife around the lake I was also promised some "architectural interest".

A wonderful day for being out [and making photos]; frost in places, lots of early morning sunshine low in the sky producing fantastic shadows in the landscape.  Plenty of avian interest with some of the usual suspects like Goosander, Heron  and Red Kite, but also a Great White Egret. Exciting stuff for me of course but on the way home later we stop off at A's and I see all sorts of birds around the feeders - including a Woodpecker and my first sighting of a Brambling, all from the comfort and warmth of a living room armchair!

But the walk was worth it, even the moment when I swayed uncertainly, feet trapped in the sucking mud and about to pitch forward into the slime, only to be "rescued" by P's outstretched hand to steady me.  And the architectural interest?  Probably the most amazing bird hide I've ever seen.
