County Durham's Extraordinary Blast Beach

An amazing beach in County Durham.. A place where the industrial heritage of the area is deeply apparent.. 

The beach suffered years of coal spoil being dumped on it, millions of tons of coal waste is still present.. So much so you can walk from the clifftop down to the sea below on a 'plinth' of coal waste.. Not that you would know that as its covered in top soil now! Eventually nature will break it down..
