Common Ringed Plovers

Plenty of these little birds on the shoreline this morning. They seemed quite happy standing in the shallows .... safety in numbers!  You can never get near to them in the summer months .... the slightest noise and they're off but this morning, even with the dog snuffling about in the seaweed, the wee plovers remained rooted to the spot.

Although we had plenty of sunshine today it has been bitterly cold. Wearing 5 layers I found it difficult to bend down and pick up Togbe's frisbee .... tee shirt, gilet, fleece, two jackets, woolly hat, jacket hood over the woolly hat, fleece line trousers and a pair of gloves that made my hands look like a bunch of bananas .... I wasn't cut out to live in Arctic conditions!
