Argelia
This is my second blip from the "cool colleagues" series. Hischam was the first one out, but that was possibly a mistake. Hischam is a great colleague and friend, but Argelia has been my assistant for more than ten years, and deserved his spot! She will forgive me I'm sure, like she has done so many times over the years. Ten years? Argelia is definitely made of something very special!
Aside from being an incredible assistant, she is Mexican, and has kind of a "funny" name! Argelia means Algeria in Spanish, and I have a theory about how she ended up with this name.
Her parents did not have a clue about what to call their little daughter, so they fixed a world map to the wall, got a set of darts, and blindfolded her father... The first dart that hit the map at all, penetrated "República Argelina Democrática y Popular" just south of Bordj Bou Arreridj.
Bingo, they had a name for their little one: República Argelina Democrática y Popular!!! Such a sweet and special name for a baby girl... Only after some seven years of screaming such things as "República Argelina Democrática y Popular come and pick up your toys immediately", her mother decided that just Argelia would be easier!
