Under an African Sky.

Just into our hotel room for the night and pretty shattered but we have arrived here in South Africa and spent the afternoon exploring the Cape Peninsula. We walked up to Cape Point, 35 degrees south, with great views over to the Cape of Good Hope the most south westerly point of the continent.

It was 30 degrees C when we landed but very windy hence our trip up table mountain has been postponed.
You can see it from here above the city with Devil’s Point at the far end as we climbed up the Table Mountain range onto the peninsula. We saw Blesbock deer which are only found here, plus some more common ones and then baboons at the side of the road. Lovely wild flowers, in particular bushes of yellow Protea. Lots as we were driving but none when we stopped. Apparently there are 80 different varieties of Proteas growing here.

Back for dinner on the V & A water front (V & A stands for Victoria and her son Alfred who helped develop this area!)
