Dutch tales

A synagogue museum

I had a great day. I visited with my best friend. We had tea and lunch and had lots to catch up. After lunch we went into town to visit a synagogue museum. This used to be a synagogue until the war. Only a handful of Jewish citizens in this town survived the war, so the synagogue was never used as such again. It was turned into a museum in 2002.

A small but interesting museum. Center peace is a maquette of a synagogue, beautifully crafted. Surrounded by informative screens about the setup and explaining about all kinds of things.

Also a sad museum, because it also tells the tale of the Jewish citizens taken away during the war. Most of them were killed. A handful survived. Still, their tales are kept alive here.
