Tall tale?

As I was taking a picture of St Mary’s, I was aware of a bloke standing to my right. Thinking he wanted to get past, I lowered my phone to get out of his way.

Turned out he wanted to tell me about the spires. It seems that one is bigger than the other: according to him, two wealthy spinsters funded a spire each, and one wanted to show she was richer.

I thought it was such a good tale I have no wish to find out whether it’s true.
