Rotary Club

Photography of a washing line is a bit of a challenge to make it interesting but here goes.
Back in 1945, Mrs Hill, Adelaide, South Australia, moaned to her husband Lance about her clothes line and prop being a pain to use. So he set about inventing the rotary washing line. It was called the Hills Hoist and was an all metal affair with a handle on the central leg which raised and lowered the line when it was turned. It has become something of an Australian icon and many are still in use to this day.
Here's ours, at dawn with the dew on it. It is from Homebase, and is mainly plastic with no raising or lowering handle. I estimate its lifespan is only going to be a few years. Clearly, they don't make 'em like they used to.
