Mesa peak motorway trail

Hi.

This photo was taken on a short hike on the Mesa Peak Motorway trail during the last day of a family visit. It was a foggy morning but we decide to go for a hike before their flight anyway. Fortunately, sea fog stays low and near the coast and it was sunny at the top of the Santa Monica Mountains. 

This is a wonderful hike, you can see the ocean (when the fog disappears) and the stark contrast between the Mediterranean-like green seafront and the arid valley at the back of the mountains. All throughout this hike, there are beautiful rock formations like the one in the photo. On the floor, the rocks were laid down reminiscent of a labyrinth or a zen garden. The beautiful work of previous hikers.

It was a great morning. We felt like we were just getting into the rhythm of having them around. I'm happy to report that they made it to their flight on time. We hope to see them again soon.
