Happy Families
I have loads of work to do so to help with the procrastination process I have been de-cluttering.
I found these Racey Helps Happy Families cards - I wonder how many Blippers recognise them. When I was very young, a family friend was downsizing to a bungalow after his children had left home (his daughter went to Canada to be a ballerina - you can imagine how much that story was romanticised......). I recall going to his nearly empty house, which I thought was a mansion because it had 3 floors AND a cellar, and him saying he had found some of his children's old toys, which I could have. Oh my, the excitement! Among the toys were the Happy Families cards -I was completely enchanted with them.
We played with them for hours and hours and years and years. Happy Families, memory patience, making up stories about the characters and quizzing each other -
"which one is wearing a top hat?"
"what is Mrs Owl carrying?"
" what is the poem above Master Rabbit's bed?"
Many years later all the games were repeated with my own children and I still remember my absolute favourite - the beautiful Miss Mouse. Such simple pleasures.
The game was fantastic yesterday - with all the hype we were expecting Man City to turn up like the Brazil side of 1970 but they weren't really all that. A penalty and a scrambled goal - and we had the thrill of being ahead all of half time. Town done good.
