READY FOR THE BIRDS
After we had been out this morning, I noticed these berries on the cotoneaster bush on the wall opposite our house.
There is an old wives’ tale that if there are a lot of berries on bushes, then it could mean we are going to have a harsh winter. If that is so, then the birds will have a feast.
My right hip and knee are very sore today and I think that’s because it’s cold and damp, so guess I had better start thinking about what to do to keep warm - I think I may need to sort out my fluffy pink hot water bottle.
“Pay heed to the tales
of old wives.
It may well be that
they alone keep in memory
what it was once needful
for the wise to know.”
