Shadow Katchers

Today I had the thrill of sharing a very special part of my family history. My Great Grandfather Matthew was a photographer as were his two brothers Alfred and George. They were all born in St. Kilda Victoria and ran their business the Wall Bros for a large part of their life from that area of Melbourne. The name Shadowkatchers was also a business name that they used. This very precious photo shows a group of photographers at the Photographers Convention in 1893. My Great Grandfather is the one holding the cricket bat with the name Mat Wall and Shadow Katchers running down the back of the bat.

There is another story to be told about the camera that is sitting on the floor but I'm going to leave that until another day. My big brother Al and I started a Blip Journal under the name of Shadow Katchers some time ago and there are only a few images on it at this stage. Now we have done a lot more research and have many more images to share I'm going to commence adding the images as a wonderful record that we can share. I think you'll agree these six fellows look very dapper and quite pleased with themselves. If only I could sit down and talk with my Great Grandfather now. What I wouldn't give for that.
