Tram Lane

Boy, did it rain, today. Returning to the office from Preston sometime after three, I encountered heavy flooding on the A591 where I haven't seen it for years. And if it was flooded badly there, I knew it would be horrendous on the smaller roads. The clincher for me was looking down at the river from the window by my desk and seeing how high it was, so I closed the office at four, before it got dark and hoping to beat the rush hour (such as it is around Kendal).

Well, I don't think I was the only person thinking that way; there was a lot of traffic on the road! There were three or four badly flooded patches on the A65 between the M6 and Kirkby Lonsdale, with plucky souls taking some very small cars through water that looked to be about eighteen inches deep!

Later on in the evening, with rain still tipping down, Dean and I braved the elements (well, one of them) to venture out for a curry. The road was flooded to a few inches outside the Sun, which I've never seen before and I thought I'd photograph it on the way back. However, by the time we'd eaten and were making our way around to Number Nine, the water had all drained away.

Instead then, and totalling failing to capture just how wet it was, here's the view up Tram Lane.
