B and I took an early train down to Durham this morning. I had some rail vouchers so we decided to take a random trip.

We took a wander through the cobbled streets and went to see Durham Cathedral (a place a vaguely recall visiting on a school trip when I was about seven). We began with a look round the University Library, which had some interesting exhibitions about the history of Durham and then we went to the Cathedral itself - including climbing the 325 steps to the top of the tower.

After lunch we went for a further wander around some of the view points before checking into our B&B.

Had a lovely Indian meal for dinner - albeit with rather slow service - still at least once it arrived the food was pretty good.
