Live cowrie
I was so excited to see this live cowrie on the rock seawall at Maunalua Bay. Watched it for a couple minutes as it got submerged again and again, until it moved a couple inches up the rock and disappeared into a crevice. It was so beautiful, about 4-inches long. You can just make out the feelers of the snail inside. They generally feed at nite, eating algae and seaweed, so maybe this one was just thirsty . . . Think it might be a Hawaiian Tiger Cowrie, but they are supposed to have a pale base shell which this one doesn't. Someone might know . . . ?
