Diary of an Edinburgher

Hello Archie

I got up in plenty of time to have breakfast before going to badminton. My new pills have to be taken with food, otherwise I’d rather skip breakfast and stay in bed for another half hour. I took Archie round the block, and two people I don’t know said, 'Hello Archie' and patted him.

I then decided not to go to badminton. I'm pretty useless, but I have high hopes with the new pills that I’ll be able to move a bit more easily, and intend to go next week. NickyR suggested that table tennis would be a better option, which is true. But when I went to a ping pong club a year or so ago, they complained about my 'illegal' serve and so I had to try and change it, with unsuccessful results. Besides, that club is not so handy.

Archie and I spent the morning watching ‘Homes Under the Hammer’ instead. I reckon that's a great thing to do (doing up houses to let or to sell) if you're young and fit. JR joined us on the sofa after her gym session. I didn’t cycle, and haven’t for a day or two.

JR then went into town for some important shopping, and I took Archie up the hill. I always mean to go up late in the day and catch a nice sunset, but there wasn’t one tonight. But as I waited hopefully up at the top of the hill, I threw the ball down a real slope, quite prepared to lose it when he didn’t bring it back. But... Yes! He brought it back every time! And it fair bounced off for miles, with him in hot pursuit. Mind you, I gave him four (tiny) treats each time, but he surely ran them off, as we did it about six times.

Before we went up the hill we popped in to see Bailey and her mum (while Archie was clean). Janet is in possession of a new iPhone X. So I wanted to admire it. And I had a go on her new exercise bike. Rather flasher than my rubbish-bin one, but I can’t complain, as it was more expensive.

True to form, Archie was grubby within minutes, it's still quite muddy on some of the paths, and he just loves eating clumps of muddy grass.

I washed him when we came back, using the bigger, steadier, picnic table, so that I didn’t have to bend down, which worked quite well and I didn’t get wet at all much.
