Old friends

Last night we had a very turbulent flight from London to Johannesburg - I cannot remember being bounced around so much while flying ever before! It meant I had very little sleep and so when we landed this morning I needed matchsticks to keep my eyes open....

We dropped our bags at the hotel, had a shower and then went to see Gavin's mom, who was looking remarkably well and so much better then when Gavin last saw her 2 months ago. Her heart medication has been rectified and so she has now stabilised, she is not as frail and weak as she initially was when the doctors were keeping her blood pressure too low. However, she is no longer allowed to drive and so we had a busy day taking her to two banks to sort out problems with her accounts and then to the pharmacy to again sort out some issues with that account. It was a very boring day but very necessary, and so I had no time to take any photos. 

We finally got back to the hotel in the early evening and then we went to meet some friends - Mike is Gavin's oldest friend, they have been very good friends since primary school, and his partner Ari used to be at senior school with Gavin. Lots of reminiscing about old times and much laughter was had!

Tomorrow we have more sorting of admin matters for Gavin's mom so we have to be up and at breakfast fairly early. It is now time for bed and I am feeling shattered after my lack of sleep last night. I hate long haul flights!
