That Was Unexpected

I was called in to my manager's office today and unexpectedly given this letter.

It's official notification that I've just landed a pay rise.

I genuinely had no idea that was going to happen. 

I thought we'd exhausted all the good things for this week with the advent calendar yesterday, but I'll take this as well.

Don't think I managed to really take it in. 

It's just the fact that what I do is valued.  That is a real surprise.
