a road less travelled

I love following paths I don't know. There is a sense of exploration, wonder, curiousity when I turn a corner and take on a vista I have never seen before. Rural paths rarely take the quickest route between two points, rather, they often meander to ensure that the traveller is able to enjoy the journey rather than be focused simply on getting to the destination. Today we are so fixed on saving time, on making that appointment at that time, by finishing that task now,  that we rarely take time to enjoy the journey.  For me at least, Peace is not a destination we will arrive at someday. Peace-building - the creating of spaces into which peace can break out, in which peace might take hold - is a journey not to be rushed. As on any journey, we may be joined by fellow travellers along the way, people who we might not know, or whose company we might even find awkward. We travel with them, however, in the knowledge they seek the same thing - a more inclusive, shared society. The journey is often tiring but always rewarding - if we take time to reflect along the way that is!
