Celebrate!
This may not appear to be a particularly celebratory blip, but here's the thing. This is a northern mockingbird. The NOMO is a grey and white bird, which makes him a decent choice for a mono photo. But more to the celebratory point, we virtually never see them here at our own personal house. Up the road, where we walk regularly, there are bunches of them. All up and down the dirt lane that we walk, there are mockingbirds singing their wonderful songs all Spring and Summer. And I continue to see them in the Fall and Winter, when they don't talk so much. There's even one that I think of as the mayor of that road because his territory is right at the beginning of the road and he sits there in one of his trees singing his head off as we walk past him. But here at home - nada. Until a few days ago, I caught sight of one flying past out front. And then this afternoon, there it was sitting in a tree behind the house in the bright sunlight (which didn't help the photo any, I can tell you).
So I am celebrating!!!! Maybe this'll be his home! Whee!!!!!!!!!!
