Ladies who lunch - And 'Scottish Power' rantings!
Today the weather has been very mizzly and drizzly and it has been so dark that we've had to have the lights on all day. This morning after we'd watched Jeremy Kyle, I had to be very quiet while Ann composed yet another email to 'Scottish Power'. More of which later.
At lunchtime we met Ann's friend Kay, and (the very lovely Cockerpoo) Cassie, for lunch at the 'Hermitage'. I'd never met Cassie before and she was very bouncy! Young bouncy dogs irritate me because I can't keep up with them, so I pretty much ignored her. I just lay under the table in good dog mode. The barmaid liked us though. She took some photos of us and asked Ann & Kay to write down our names and what we liked doing. .................Maybe we're going to feature on their website or FB page???
Anyway, after lunch we went for a walk in 'Braidburn Valley Park' and we both did a bit of splish, splash, sploshing in the burn. That was fun. Unfortunately by the time we'd done that, Ann wasn't feeling that great (though she now thinks she just has a bad cold and not flu) so she had to lie down for an hour or so.
As for the 'Scottish Power' rantings............................. We just need to record this for ourselves so switch to someone else's Blip now if you're not interested in our rantings.....................
The last time we ranted about Scottish Power was on 24th October when they told us they would reduce our ridiculous we do not live in a mansion monthly direct debit of £221.49 to £115.02. Normally our direct debit goes out of our account at the beginning of the month (and we were told this new amount would start in November). Ann was slightly surprised to find that nothing had gone out of her account at the beginning of November but she didn't worry about it too much because she's been pretty busy and dealing with utility companies takes up a lot of time.
Over the weekend we have had Ann's friends, Caroline & Tony staying with us. Tony is very clever. He knows everything about everything and if he doesn't know, he knows where to find the information required. The main problem we have, re our electricity meter readings is........................ we don't know which are the day time readings and which are the night-time readings. And nobody at Scottish Power seems to be able to tell us.
On 9th November 2017, we had a 'real live person' come to read our meter. Ann was really happy. She said to the 'real live person', 'I'm so glad you're here. I'm having an ongoing battle with Scottish Power because no one can tell me which is my day reading and which is my night reading. Please show me how to read my meter?'
Unfortunately 'real live person' was just as stupid as the rest of the staff at Scottish Power. He just noted the readings down under 1 & 2 but didn't know which numbers related to day or night??? However, having looked at our latest bill online it would appear that he has put the highest reading in the night box and the lowest reading in the day box. That cannot be right as the only electricity that we use at night is the immersion which heats up overnight. Everything else – heaters, oven, washing machine, etc, etc is used during the day.
This whole Scottish Power saga is soooooooo irritating....................... Anyway the 'very clever Tony' seems to think that the very stupid 'Scottish Power' have been putting the wrong figures in the wrong boxes. He told Ann to phone them today, but to be honest she's had enough of talking to stupid people who don't have the ability to deal with anything on an individual basis. The last time she phoned them, the guy she spoke to actually admitted that he was working off a 'ghost template' and didn't even have all Ann's details in front of him. It's ridiculous!
Also, we're not sure why our reduced direct debit payment of £115.02 hasn't been taken out of our account for Nov? Online blurb is showing that £221.49 is going to be taken on 22 Jan 2018? Why?
All we want to know is.............................. which is the night reading and which is the day reading, then we can submit readings every month so that 'Scottish Power' can stop charging us extortionate rates. Grrrrrrr................
….............And the reason we're emailing them instead of phoning, apart from the fact that non of the 'Scottish Power' staff seem to have a clue what they're talking about is because we want everything written down so that we have a record of it.
OK rant over!
