Grousing

Taking advantage of the clear weather, with the following week off forecast to be rainy and horrid, rounding Hopes Reservoir and remarking on the huge numbers of almost-safe-at-the-end-of-grouse-season birds (just a little while to hold out guys….). And Sunday, so no ‘official’ hunting (we heard some guns going off). 

I’ve said before, I’ve no real issue with hunting for the pot, but large groups paying to have birds driven in front of them takes something of the ‘sport’ out of it, and certainly loads the odds against the hunted. Add to that the way the lands are managed and the (denied-but-oh-so-obvious) persecution of raptors and carnivores, and…. Agh….
