Taking a Break

Today the walking group drove up the Matukituki Valley Road, and parked by the Swing Bridge over the Matukituki River.  (Extra 1)  We walked down the true left of the river to our lunch spot, which was in various places along the track.  Some reached the Aspiring Lodge, while others had their lunch under the trees, and the tail enders stopped before having to wade through a creek.  

We spoke to some trappers who were setting traps along the track, they had caught 3 possums, 1 hedgehog, and several mice.  The 2nd extra is of them crossing the river after completing their work. 

We walked about 7 k's all up.

We stopped for a welcome cuppa on the way back to our meeting place.  Another super walk, in ideal conditions. with wonderful people.
