Vintage Cutlery Set

Had a lazy quiet day at home.  Couldn't even be bothered to do the ironing.  Its been cold and dark all day so I wasn't motivated to take a walk.

I was clearing out some stuff from under a bookcase in the living room and I found this vintage cutlery set.  It came from my father in laws house when we cleared it after he had passed away.  Looking online it seems to be from the 1920's/30's.  It comprises of a butter knife, pickle fork and jam spoon.  Made from EPNS with mother of pearl handles.  I had a bit of an idea what EPNS meant but I decided to Google to find out the correct info.  ....................EPNS stands for " Electro Plated Nickel Silver ".  Nickel Silver is a base metal on to which silver is plated. Nickel Silver actually contains no silver at all but is an alloy of nickel, zinc and copper. Then a thin layer of silver is added to give the silver finish.  Consequently EPNS items are not valuable -  unless they are well designed.

So that's my Emergency Blip for today. I have also tagged it as " Still Life " which is hosted by Nickimags888

I have put a photo of Becky and Mikes new kitties in my Extras in case anyone is curious.  Casper is the white one and the ginger one is Chester. They have been fine today - getting settled in to their new home.  Becky and Mike ran in the Brighton 10k today and both did personal best times.
