I go walking in my sleep

Tonight himself and I visited Illuminate at a local country park . Now i’m Very partial to lights and I thought I may find something inspirational there.

It was a park we used to frequently take the kids too when they were wee. We were surprised to see how low the wall at the pooh sticks bridge was - it always seems so much higher when the kids were wee.

I could feel myself welling up as we reached the bridge, and I could see memories laughing and frowin dones and little cold hands and pink cheeks and red noses

I was blinded by the spotlights which were strategically placed to highlight the trees. Which meant I couldn’t see the paths which were subtly lit.

There was music playing from some spots which was so loud I couldn’t speak to him.

And then... the people .

It was cold. My asthma was playing me up; lots of people with fags and vapours blowing smoke. YUK

parents stopping every ten yards to take a picture of Chardonnay and Picasso by the pretty lights . Holding up the whole path of
Folk while he took a photo of them both with his wife, his mum, her mum ..... and his wife’s pal.

Jesus h Christ

And then the ‘sonic’ wall..... it took twenty of them ten minutes to work out that noise altered the lights! So they all started screaming .....

And do you know these same people were throwing their drink cans and cups into the illuminated displays!!!

There were two ‘rides’ and a ‘nutella house’. There were possibly 200 people queuing.

Why spoil a lovely thing by letting people in?

I think maybe we will go back in the daylight. When i can see the paths and the trees and our memories.... and the humans who like the pretty lights and not the beauty of nature won’t be there
