Day 322/17. Apparatus for the Testing of Petroleum

One of the responsibilites of police has always been testing for illegal fuel.
This is a test kit from the late 1800's.

The inscription say 'County of Hampshire 1880'.
Cost of the test kit, as recommended by the Board of trade Petroleum Acts, 1879 was a whole £11 0 0, but that included the mahogony case.
