early morning.......

sunrise and the first frost of the season

this the view on the way home after nightshift and as PT calls it - the wonderful promise of the new day

Restaurant review no 2 (see no 1 here)

Visited the RBar today at The Rusacks Hotel in St Andrews.

Beautiful interior and set in beautiful surroundings (right up my street). The food - soup of the day was butternut squash (very tasty) and a parma ham, rocket and mozzarella sandwich (great contents, but crap toaster-only worthy bread) with a little portion of chips on the side (perfect).

My complaint? Because you just know there will be one! The service. Slow and incompetant to start with (much improved after a sharp word in someone's ear and probably something dodgy in my soup!) and grubby crockery!

Please do not give me a plate with bowls of sugar on that someone else has already spilt coffee over and please give me a clean and dry teacup, saucer and spoon, especially one that you have not already spilt tea on!!!!! And when you are not busy please do give a damn about us because the table next to us had their plates cleared away and then, after fifteen minutes of being ignored, one of them had to call reception in order to get tea and coffee!!!!

Why, in one of the most tourist-laden towns in Scotland, must we deliver appalling third-rate service at a high price of £41 for 3 teas, 1 coke, 4 (small) soups and 1 sandwich is beyond me.

Will I be back?

Yes. I will return when I am not entertaining anyone else and I have all the time in the world when I will sit back and sip my drink slowly and enjoy the stunning views over the golf course, beach and sea and when I will be happy to be ignored!
