There's a frog...
I had an idea in mind for BUMP. There's a stump on the road to the Ruckle that has lots of bumps from burls, so I thought of bumps on a stump. Then I remembered this children's song with the lines:
"There's a frog on the bump on the log
In the hole in the middle of the sea"
The little frog stuffy that the girls used to play with when they visited. I dug it out, put it in my camera bag and headed to Burgoyne Bay to find a bump in a log. :) It was a chilly 2 degrees, perfect for a brisk walk. When I came home, I picked the last of the romaine, a bit of arugula, and some beets and carrots from the 2nd planting I put in after I harvested the garlic. Then I had a good workout with free weights. I feel good!
The other day I told G that I want to do the Times Colonist 10K in Victoria in the spring. Then the email with the registration info arrived in the mail yesterday. So I'm going to register and look forward to having a goal to work towards. When I had my eyes checked, the optometrist and I talked about getting older. She said that she can't dive any more because of respiratory problems and her husband can't run because of calf issues. I told her that I try to focus on what I can do rather than what I can't do anymore. Much as I'd love to play another full on game of basketball, that ship has sailed - but I can still shoot hoops. Can't run anymore - but I can still work up a good sweat walking. Always wanted to do a marathon but never had time to train for more than the half, and I've done a few 10Ks and can still walk that distance. No doubt about it. Good to stay fit.
