Old commentator's catch cry,
When ball kicked over.


Back in the 1960's we would often listen to important rugby games on the radio. The commentator at the time, Winston McCarthy, would always use that first line of my haiku when a kick successfully cleared the cross bar between the uprights. I was near my old rugby club today and took this pic of the very impressive goal posts.At the time they went in one of the committee worked at the steel works and got a good deal on the steel.!
In that other type of football played with  a round ball our national team lost in Peru today and so won't be going to the next World Cup in Russia.
Looking forward to the All Blacks playing Scotland on Saturday.
