Lonesome George

Lonesome George was a male Pinta Island Tortoise and the last known individual of his species. George died in 2012 and is preserved at the Charles Darwin Research Center. His remains are preserved under very strict conditions and we were only allowed to view him for about seven minutes. Very, very sad when a species disappears from the earth for ever!
