Another little surprise

Dear Diary,

Well, today is the big day.  I am off in about 45 minutes for the hour ride to the hospital.  Yesterday, while I was bringing something to the cellar I noticed the pot of soil that had hyacinths in it.  When I went to the woman's march in Boston with friends on January 21st they gave me a pot of beautiful blue hyacinths.  In March, after they were done blooming, I cut them off and put them on the cellar stairs thinking I would plant them this fall.  That didn't happen so I thought I would throw out the pot.

The soil was as hard and dry as a rock but for some reason I decided to break it apart and take a look and this is what I found!  I was amazed frankly.  All those months in the dark with no water and still, there is life.  It actually brought tears to my eyes.  This has to be a hopeful omen for me.  I hope they do well while I am gone.  I've put them in a container with glass beads and water.  One of the bulbs even add tiny "babies"!

Thank you all for you kind well wishes and positive thoughts and prayers.  I hope by tomorrow you will be seeing a "view from my bed" on my journal!
