Go with the Flow

Another working day in Scapa Flow.  The tug Erlend is seen heading for Stromness.

It is an azimuth stern drive tug and can develop a total of 4000hp through twin stern 'aqua-masters'. This equates to a bollard pull of 55t ahead and 47t astern. Each tug is equipped with towing equipment capable of withstanding loads in excess of 120 tonnes. Tug lines are used for most of the operations carried out in Scapa Flow.

Observant Blippers will notice that she appears to be heading towards the conning tower of the Barrel of Butter but, as we should all know, that is merely an illusion.

Not a good forecast today so I headed out for a quick coastal blast before crossing to Hoy for more construction plans.

Last night Christine gave a me a bottle of Longrow and a 20cl of Kilkerran which she purchased for me in Campbeltown. With friends like this who needs a drinks adviser ?
