Barges on the Medway
Looking for somewhere different to walk we took the car to the Malta Inn and walked along the River Medway to the town centre and beyond. The weather was glorious, bright sunshine, blue skies and gentle wind.
The footpath has been improved over the years and more recently from the town centre towards East Farleigh. A very rural walk towards the town but rather more built up the other side with lots of flats and apartments which, to our surprise, were rather attractive.
There used to be the odd boat moored in this location but recently it's become a place where barges of all sizes and shapes have collected. Conveniently located near the pub and with good access to the town and roads. Reminded us very much of the enjoyable week we spent on Ena in June.
More mundane tasks in the afternoon with a bit of work for me while Susan took her mum to the doctors. I finished the second batch of pickled onions, peeled and stewed a pile of Bramley apples by way of relaxation!
