Bumps in the Road

Breaking with tradition

Rather than posting an image of the family, today I've chosen one of me and my old art teacher, Mr (Harry) French.

While Grandma looked after the kids, and Nikki stayed back in Edinburgh for some much needed R&R, I attended a 23 year school reunion.  The organisers were brilliant, and even arranged for a two hour tour of our old school, William Farr.

Although I've not stayed in close touch with Harry, my mum often bumps into him around town.  So, when I knew the event was happening, I invited my old teacher along too (15 years after he retired).

It was a pleasure to visit the old place, and especially great to be able to thank Mr French for encouraging me to combine my passion of computers and art, leading me into computer animation, and then further combining that with my love of video games.

Sincerely, thank you being bold, glimpsing the future and encouraging us to forge a new medium.  It's even better to have done it in person today - not to mention meet up with all my old school friends!
