School Bus Adventures
My girl hasn't had the opportunity to ride a bus from school to a destination all by herself for much of her life. She is anxious of such things. What if she gets on the wrong bus? What if the bus doesn't stop at her stop? What if....what if....she can think of a thousand things that could happen. This anxiety is one of the main reasons I bent....and got her a phone earlier than I had planned. She needed peace of mind.
Thursday, she had a big adventure. She was to get on a bus after school.....give the driver an address, and ask him to drop her off there (even if he didn't know where that address was). She built up tons of anxiety about it all week, but in the end...she found her courage, and pulled through. She was dropped at her former dance teacher's house, and got to spend about an hour and a half taking care of her 3 week old baby while mama got some house work done. It was a challenge for her. Many firsts......but she used her courage, and prevailed. It was worth it in so many ways. She will be stronger for it.
She learned that babies cry....and you have try many things to settle them. What worked a minute ago....may not work now. She didn't give up, and she is eager to have another chance next week.
I love that she didn't give up on the bus....or the baby.
