Burnished Borrowdale
The other one, the quiet hidden little secret one, "my" Borrowdale....
Almost the last walk I did before* the operation became my first 'proper' walk post op. I only managed 4km and needed to stop a few times, but it was great to be out.
You can see the track it's mostly a lane and pretty good underfoot, but any sort of camber is still beyond me. Most walkers think of their legs, but now I'm learning it's all about my feet, how they strike the ground, where the push off of each step begins. It's difficult relearning a thing that most of us learnt before we could talk.
Borrowdale is the location of my next article for Conserving Lakeland magazine. Today it was oh so easy to see why this is such a special little gem. The fellsides positively glowed bronze, the berries gave a postbox flash of red to the hardy hawthorns and overhead buzzards dived and swooped. As ever we saw not a soul.
