Chirpy
We went to the nature reserve in Motril again this afternoon, this time armed with the big camera. Even then my photos were not brilliant as my longest lens is not all that long and doesn't have VR. Hence loads of blurry photos. But it was very relaxing wandering around and sitting in different hides watching birds in the late afternoon sunlight.
I will happily accept expert identifications of this chirpy little bird -- I am guessing it's a warbler of some kind. The little fluffy divers in the first extra -- about half the size of coots -- were very cute. And as for the large birds in the second extra, they looked like flamingos except they weren't pink. There were also cormorants, as you can see (second extra), coots, ducks, a couple of egrets, herons, storks, and lots of small unidentified waders. And a passing red kite.
The reserve closes at six, and when we set off home the low sun was shining directly into my eyes so I couldn't see where I was going. So I just had to pull in to a beach bar to wait for sunset. It was one we haven't been to before on a long sandy beach at the west end of Motril, clearly popular with paddleboarders and surfers. Lots of people were sitting outside watching the sun slip down below the horizon; it was a pleasant, albeit slightly chilly, way to end the afternoon.
