Stewardship

Now, I'm no vegetarian. My mother, uncle, grandfather and several ancestors before them were farmers of one kind or another. I believe God made people in His own image and put them above all other creatures. I believe He gave us animals to be food for us, to help us, to be companions to us and to add to the richness and beauty of the world around us. But I also believe that in putting us above all nature, he gave us the responsibility of being good stewards of the earth and all that is in it.

When I buy meat I try my best to buy meat that is responsibly and ethically farmed. At the moment I am subject to quite severe financial restraints, so this often means I go for weeks without meat. Today (the date I write, not the date of my blip) I saw a video - Uncomfortable Tails - for a campaign by the RSPCA relating to duck farming. I would love it if you'd watch the video, and don't worry; it's not gory!
