Kalmia Latifolia "Yankee Doodle"...

...Calico Bush variety  ( Mountain Laurel).  Now flowering in my garden, this one is described as 'an unusual variety with vivid red buds opening to white flowers with a narrow splotched band of maroon plus an inner ring of burgundy-red.' It was hard to capture with a pesky wind keeping it on the move.

The pattern and colour of the individual flowers always makes me think of Royal Albert china.
