Life on the Good Intent

Dunnock

I woke early to go and try to blip the sunrise after messing up yesterday. The morning was already full of promise - I dressed and went downstairs and put on a large pot of coffee.
Pulling back the curtains, I was aware of something lying in the half light on the patio. It looked like a long thin strip of fur.
I opened the patio doors and went to see - it was Mummy Squirrel, my dear obliging blip subject. She was so small in death, her passing energy had left her flat and empty.
She had become such a part of the garden that I buried her beside the Rowan tree.
Despite the lovely day - I was very subdued as I went about my Saturday chores, at times close to tears, maybe not just for a dead animal but maybe for a lost child as the news came from Wales.
So today's blip is a dunnock, a shy member of our garden community, unusually caught in the open. Be careful wee birdie, look behind you.
