Highway To Heaven

The other plants have had their day but the Asters are blooming. For the bees it was a 'highway to heaven'! I have never seen so many bees in just one spot - nothing on the roses or any of the other flowers! This plant is a true star, just awash with so many different kinds of bees it was unbelievable seeing it this afternoon. Very appropriate really as the name 'aster' comes from the Greek word meaning, 'star' because of the shape of the flower head.

A star in more ways than one I feel, as my mission today was cormorants on the Severn - another story!
