Homecoming

Today we hosted our own Cross Country meet and to be honest it was a bloody nightmare and I'm just pleased it's all over. We had three hundred runners competing which make it a bigger meet than the Internationals School's European Champs that we are going to next month. Not our choice but unfortunately we have no control over who our AD invites to compete.
It has absolutely poured down all day which didn't help matters. We had problems with the company organising the chips that the runners wore to record results. We didn't have enough volunteers to marshall the course through the forest and consequently 'lost' three runners for about an hour. I've been on my feet all day, freezing cold and wet and a bit miserable.

Not great preparation for my own race tomorrow which I am now feeling very nervous about. I'm doing the Brussels Half Marathon which is my first race since 2009 and training hasn't gone particularly well over the last couple of weeks due to other work commitments etc.

Oh well, I'm just thankful that I am able to compete and I'm going to do my best to go out and enjoy this one. Hopefully I'll be able to blip my own medal tomorrow!
