grabbing the moment

It's great to be able to sit outside for coffee and a scone in the 1st week of October (especially so since it was such a rare event in the summer).

I was at the nearest farm shop to buy some stuff (mostly veg) for the weekend. Tonight's menu is venison sausages with mixed salad & crusty bread. Oh, and Montepulciano of course.

Sometimes I do end up buying something which looks great, and then when I get home I'm scratching my head about what to do with it. Today it's a red cabbage. I can do Blaukraut if all else fails.

So if you have any ideas... It has to go with home made hamburgers (organic Aberdeen Angus beef from a farm in... Angus).

I'd had 4 cups of black coffee after I got up, so wasn't needing more at 10.15. But they'd just taken the cheese scones out of the oven, the sun was shining on the terrace, and it was still quiet.
