Swan Lake

I took several standby blips early this morning but then after lunch the sun enticed me to get the car out in search of a more interesting picture.

I drove to nearby Bookham Common. This is a National Trust property and is a woodland area, mainly oaks and silver birch. As with most old oak woodland, it is said that trees from here were felled to build ships to fend off the Spanish Armada. As Lord Howard of Effingham was local to here, maybe there's some truth in the story.

Today it was warm in the sun. There weren't too many people about, just a few dog walkers, grandchildren walkers, joggers, horse riders and cyclists. I walked to a favourite spot, Isle of Wight Pond, where two swans were idly rummaging amongst the reeds. It was a peaceful scene.
