Sake Festival
I've been in Hiroshima for 12 years, but today was the first time I managed to get to the annual Sake Festival in Saijo. We were lucky enough to get invited to a tasting event that was being held in the city, and had some of the nuances of the different types of water and rice and the processes involved to get the variety of sakes explained to us. After 12 types of sake in quick succession we were both quite merry, and enjoyed wandering around the pretty little town of Saijo. You could imagine a good Miyazaki anime being set there. We check out a couple of the many distilleries in town, and bought a few bottles of the sake recommended to us by the "teacher" at the tasting event. A few portions of ubiquitous festival food later, we were so full that we didn't even go into the main all Japan sake tasting venue. Hiroshima sake is it seems enough for us.
Never thought I would come home sober!
