Brain Food cafe at The Brain Charity.
Went to check out my favourite charity today with friend S. First Monday of the month is the meeting of the Brain Haemorrhage Support Group, which I haven't been able to attend for a couple of years. Initially I was dismayed to realise I didn't know anyone, when once they would have all been familiar faces, but the staff recognised me even if a volunteer didn't (but memory issues are rife there, being culled from previous clients), and it was good to catch up. The charity is thriving, offering so many free resources to clients now, and I bumped into its most famous face, Stella (extra), who greeted me like a long-lost friend, and is constantly happy despite her debilitating stroke "seventeen-and-a-half years ago". She said that despite appearances she is not happy all the time, and is sad sometimes. With a twinkle she said that because of her memory problems she forgets the sad times. What an inspiration she is.
