Diary of an Edinburgher

Mid morning bubbles

The two gym goers popped off again. Good on them. But when they came back they hauled my bike out of the cupboard and set it up again, insisting that I get back into my routine. I must say, it's quite easy to get out of that routine... but I suppose I should keep it going. Though I don’t really feel any benefit. My knees are as stiff as they’ve always been. But I go for a follow-up consultation in a week or so, so I’ll be able to have a moan to them.

We decided to go for a wander down town, so down the Royal Mile we strolled, then past the Arches (my favourite Donuteria was full, so we couldn’t go in. But we were headed for the dog friendly Brewhemia. And after searching all over, we eventually found a table that I could sit at without whingeing - it didn’t have a speaker above it.

We had proseccos and discussed the very exciting possibility of an exotic holiday together next year. It's a big birthday for both JR and Gill - same day, same year. Watch this space!

We wanted to walk along the Gardens, but it was closed off due to the Christmas market huts being set up. So we walked on to the other side, and stopped to pat Wojtek the bear, before Archie and I returned home and the ladies set off to browse around the shops.

After a wee lie down, I took Archie to the Links for a run around, because he doesn’t count walking around town on a lead as proper 'walkies'. He had a good run around with his giant frisbee. Almost every time he flipped it over on to his back to carry it. In fact, a woman with a big bouncy labrador came over and said she'd been watching and thought I was training him to do that.

I've got another jury citation! Are they running out of people? I've been in Edinburgh for almost twenty years (jings!) and I’ve had a jury summons three times in the last couple of years.
